autumn slides in,
defiantly belonging –

See you in winter...)

Armistice Day —
I rescue a moth
from a spider web

It's been a pleasure sharing another season with you all - I'm looking forward to stepping across into winter. As a final post from me - a concussion of seasons.

Our cat loves
evening family story times;
one voice, many laps.

wind...rustling leaves
the inseperable
oneness

leaving our house
so others can see it-
on a branch
above me, I notice,
leaves have already left

wiggling happily
fingers surrounded -
Scottish woolen glove

looking glum

goblin ginko!

allhallowmas...
the goblins go back
into their books

I couldn't resist! ;-)

The image is from a time when I was haiku poet-in-residence at the U.K.'s largest celebration of natural history, Festival of Nature 2004. I was paid to visit schools around the South West of England with my haiku fieldbook, and get everyone doing ginko!

SCENES IN A TRAIN WINDOW

golden poplar leaves jiggle
coin of the season

one silo, two silos
a third leans away
brown leaves scuttle

train ride home
autumn fields and lakes
on rewind

selecting
alpaca yarn -
a future sweater

kicking
through the leaves
sound of its season

Through tangles,
cold winds comb the leaves
from sleeping elms..

today
the birch tree -
full of old nests

November night —
the steam rising
from a dead cat

light through the trees -
monks'
orange robes

One Blessed Moment

sunset

Roasting pumpkin seeds;
step out to watch the sky with
children laughing.

cool breeze
in november night~
whispering maple

all saints' day -
ten rowan berries
for a rosary

all saints

those who've gone before
life mimics in the season
leaves blanket the ground

no one knocks on the door
pumpkin full of candy waits
the treat is for me
